With this message, TISCO (Tilburg Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies of Civil Law and Conflict Resolution Systems) and HiiL (Hague Institute for the Internationalisation of Law) are pleased to inform you about upcoming International conference under the title: Measuring Access to Justice and Legal Empowerment of the poor. The two-day meeting will take place in The Hague on 26-27 April, 2010 (specific venue and detailed program TBA).
Primary goal of the conference is to leverage the academic and policy dialogue on measurement of justice and legal empowerment. Despite the growing needs for measurement and benchmarking both fields are in their formative stage and need further development and collaboration. Different methods and approaches for measuring justice and legal empowerment will be presented and discussed. The measurement dimension will be enriched with insights from practitioners and policy makers.
The conference will also host the Fifth annual meeting of The Hague Rule of Law Network. This year the network will deliberate on the possibilities for establishing a comprehensive knowledge platform – kind of a rule of law ‘meeting point’ or ‘marketplace’.
