The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) is looking to fill the following position:
Fundraising Director
Conditions:
Duration: Permanent contract, two-month trial period
Hours: Full time (35 hour/week regime applies)
Location: FIDH International Secretariat, Paris
Salary: Depending on past experience
Start date: May 2008

Based at the FIDH International Secretariat in Paris, the Fundraising Director will be responsible for FIDH’s efforts to raise funds from and strengthen relationships with institutional donors (private foundations and public bodies), as well as prospecting new sources of funding to help meet the growing financial needs of the organisation. The Fundraising Director will work in close collaboration with all staff members, under the supervision of the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director.
Responsibilities of the Fundraising Director include but are not limited to:
Writing proposals for core funding/ general support and contributing to the elaboration of reports to donors on the use of grants
Supporting regional and thematic desks to elaborate and draft proposals for programme support, including ensuring consistency between activities and budget, and to report to donors on the use of grants
Identifying and soliciting new sources of support by matching FIDH’s programme interests and core-funding needs with the funding priorities of a broad array of foundations and public donors
Building relationships with existing and new donors, including by ensuring that donors are informed of developments in FIDH’s work
Contributing to the development of the organisation’s fundraising strategy
Contributing to internal evaluation, including the development, appropriation and use of evaluation tools
Managing a busy schedule of proposal and reporting deadlines
Qualifications:
Postgraduate degree (masters or equivalent)
3-5 years’ professional experience in fundraising and/or human rights work and excellent understanding of human rights issues;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French. Perfect written English is essential.
Excellent interpersonal and representational skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, board members, and donors
Excellent organizational and administrative skills
Strong attention to detail
Experience with applying a results-based approach
Experience using word processing, computer communications and spreadsheet software
Commitment to the goals of FIDH and motivation to work in the non-profit sector
