Amnesty International is seeking two researchers to work on it’s Balkans Team. For both roles, you will need proven research experience, thorough knowledge of the Western Balkans, excellent understanding of human rights and sound political judgement.
You should also have experience of analysing complex political and social situations, conducting research interviews, and producing reports and other written material. Impartiality, the ability to think strategically are essential, while your tenacity and communication skills will equip you for liaising with other organisations and representing AI to governments and the media.
Researcher – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia
1-year fixed-term contract
£31,139 per annum

Focusing on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia, you’ll need specialist country knowledge, fluency in English and a good working knowledge of Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, while knowledge of a relevant Romani language is desirable. Previous research on gender based violence in armed conflict, or on discrimination against minorities, particularly Roma, will be an advantage.
Researcher – Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia including Kosovo
6-month fixed-term contract
£31,139 per annum (pro rata)

Focusing on Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia including Kosovo, you need specialist country knowledge, fluency in English and a good working knowledge of Serbian
and/or Macedonian. Knowledge of Albanian and/or a relevant Romani language is desirable.
Previous research on discrimination against minorities, particularly Roma, or gender-based violence, will be an advantage.
