The Campaigns Unit at Amnesty International USA is currently seeking an intern with an interest in non-profit management and advocacy through campaigning at an international human rights organization.
The intern will primarily assist with developing and maintaining administrative and communications systems as well as resources for the Campaigns Unit.
In addition, the intern will also have opportunities to work directly on the Stop Violence Against Women campaign by providing assistance in:
- organizing campaign events and related meetings
- producing and maintaining campaign related materials and the campaign website
- responding to membership and public inquiries about campaign activities and resources
Finally, the intern will be asked to provide some general research and administrative support to the unit.
Qualifications:
- Advanced undergraduate or graduate student
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to multi-task
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work in a diverse environment – prior multicultural experience preferred
- Interest in non-profit management and campaigning - prior experience in non-profit management, human rights and/or advocacy preferred
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Internet applications
- Able to work 10-15 hours per week in the Spring semester for a minimum of 3 months – applicants who are interested in continuing in the summer are preferred
