The Luarca Declaration on the Human Right to Peace –a book written in four languages: Spanish, Catalan, English and French- is guided by a holistic idea which links peace to the establishment of a new international economic order. Such order would eliminate the inequality, exclusion and poverty which generate structural violence incompatible with peace. The Declaration represents the contribution of the Spanish civil society to the international debate which will conclude in 2009 with the adoption of a final text by the international civil society. The SSIHRL will then submit such text to the United Nations Organization, urging it to initiate a process of official codification which should culminate with the adoption by the General Assembly of a Universal Declaration on the Human Right to Peace.
