DC: AI Urgent Action Network Assistant

The Urgent Action (UA) Network Assistant is an exciting and rewarding entry level, temporary 3- months position. The UA Network works on behalf of individuals at risk of immediate, life-threatening human rights violations. The UA Assistant provides administrative support and assists in the day-to-day functions of the Urgent Action Network and the FIRST APPEAL Pledge Program. Responsibilities include: administering the UA registration process and participating in the distribution of UA's, WARNs, Medical Actions, and national section action. Qualified candidate will respond to daily office correspondence (email, fax, post, phone), handle the daily maintenance of the Urgent Action Network's member database, assist with the writing and posting of online actions and materials, and assist with managing and training the program’s volunteers and interns.


Bachelors degree. Interest and knowledge in human rights, grassroots organizing or NGO work preferred. Must have demonstrated flexibility, a positive, can-do attitude as well as strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment, strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Qualified candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, MS Access, Adobe PageMaker, PC Transact. Web skills (HTML/XML) highly desirable.
