Cortona Colloquium 2007 – War, Law and Global Order

The Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation invites proposals from doctoral candidates and young PhD recipients and researchers working in a variety of fields (international relations, international law, history & philosophy of international law, theory of human rights, history of the Middle East, political theory of globalization, political philosophy, political science, philosophy of law, etc.) for the Cortona Colloquium 2007 – War, Law and Global Order, to take place 19-20 October 2007 in Cortona, Italy.


This year’s edition of the international conference will feature Antonio Cassese, former President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, as its keynote speaker, and is being coordinated by Danilo Zolo (University of Florence & Centro Jura Gentium).

Proposals are welcomed on themes including, but not limited to:
1) the “new wars” and the national and international protection of human rights;
2) the problem of peace and the function of international criminal justice;
3) how to define the notion of “wars of aggression”?;
4) terrorism and international law;
5) the Palestinian question as the epicenter of the wars in the Middle East, and the impotence of the international community.

The proposal submission deadline is 4 May 2007.
