The Capital Campaign Project Coordinator is a key position on the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Northern California’s capital campaign team and in the Development Department. With guidance and supervision from the Capital Campaign Director, and in partnership with the Capital Campaign Associate, the primary duties of the Capital Campaign Project Coordinator include the following:
Writing and Project Coordination (75% time)
• Takes primary responsibility for preparing and overseeing production of campaign materials, including brochures, personalized proposals, bulletins, newsletters, progress reports, website content, and donor recognition plaques and other materials. This includes managing projects that involve contractors, other staff members, and volunteers.
• Reviews acknowledgement letters and similar materials.
Research and Data Entry (10% time)
• With Campaign Director, evaluates prospects’ readiness and capacity for making a campaign gift.
• Researches campaign prospects and summarizes findings.
• Enters data into the computer, including information collected by research activities.
Volunteer and Donor Relations (10% time)
• Staffs campaign committees by arranging meetings, sometimes leading/facilitating meetings, taking and preparing minutes, keeping records, and more.
• Communicates with solicitors to check on the progress of their assignments, update them on receipt of gifts and other progress, and more.
• Prepares mailings, solicitation folders, and meeting materials.
• Assists with special events.
Other (5%)
• Strategizes and plans with other campaign and Development staff.
Qualifications:
The ideal Capital Campaign Project Coordinator is a professional with experience in development campaigns. Other qualifications include:
• A strong, demonstrated commitment to the cause of civil liberties and civil rights.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. The job duties focus on preparing written materials, managing special projects, and communicating with volunteers and donors.
• Ability to work well with others as a part of a team and to work independently as necessary.
• Ability to manage and juggle multiple priorities, sometimes under pressing deadlines.
• Excellent attention to details and ability to effectively organize people and information. Commitment to maintaining good donor relations and accurate records.
• Very good computer skills, particularly in word processing, database, email, and web browsing programs. (We use Raiser’s Edge, Word, Excel, Outlook, and others.)
• Personal enthusiasm, optimism, and humor, and comfort with creative processes.
Compensation
Position is full-time (37.5 hours/week). Salary based on experience. Very generous and comprehensive benefits include four weeks paid vacation; medical, vision and dental coverage for staff members, their dependents and domestic partners. The position is classified as temporary, for a two to three year period (anticipated length of the Capital Campaign).
