Global Rights is a nonprofit organization of human rights and legal professionals working to make human rights real for individuals and communities around the world by building the capacity of local groups and strengthening human rights protections through advocacy, strategic lawyering and training.
Global Rights Initiative Against Trafficking in Persons assists advocates and NGOs in building their advocacy, legal literacy and networking skills, encourages governments to prosecute traffickers and incorporate human rights standards into protective measures for trafficked persons, and advocates for an increased awareness of the links between trafficking, the subordinate status of women and other vulnerable groups in all societies and the impact of globalization, restrictive immigration policies and lax labor law enforcement upon migrant workers.
Job Description:
? The Program Officer collaborates with the Initiative Director and local partners in Central America and Mexico in the design and implementation of projects that build the capacity of local organizations to advocate at national and international levels for human rights-based state responses protecting the rights of trafficked persons, respecting the rights of migrants and prosecuting traffickers.
? The Program Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to partners in Central American and Mexico, including trainings, helping build a regional network, organizing information and resource-sharing opportunities and assisting in the development of regional responses to this growing crisis.
? Additionally, the Program Officer, in collaboration with local partners, monitors and participates in anti-trafficking efforts in the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations to increase regional and international attention to the nature and scope of the problem in the region.

? Advanced university degree in law, human rights, international relations, or relevant field.
? Spanish native speaker or equivalent is required.
? In-depth knowledge of human rights issues and a minimum of 5 years of experience working with grassroots organizations or networks on advocacy and/or programs on human trafficking, women’s rights, children’s rights, labor rights and/or migrants’ rights.
? Ability to manage a diverse team located in multiple countries is important.
? Excellent writing and research skills are a must.
