Applicants will be considered for teams in Sri Lanka and the Philippines, and for future teams. If interested, please apply as soon as possible, but no later than October 10th. Criteria for applicants and instructions on how to apply are below.
Nonviolent Peaceforce is looking for field staff for its teams in Sri Lanka and the Philippines and for its reserves for future deployments Nonviolent Peaceforce is an international NGO with over 90 member organizations from around the world. In partnership with local groups, our field team members apply nonviolent strategies to protect human rights, deter violence, and help create space for local peacemakers to carry out their work. The mission of the Nonviolent Peaceforce is to build a trained, international civilian peaceforce committed to nonviolent intervention.
Before applying, please ask yourself if you meet the following minimum criteria:

b.. You speak and write English fluently
c.. You have international and intercultural experience
d.. You are a good team worker
e.. You have knowledge and skills in conflict transformation or
peacekeeping work
f.. You feel motivated to work in an organisation based on the principles of nonviolence, and are supportive of Nonviolent Peaceforce's mission

Recompensation: Nonviolent Peaceforce offers insurance, a per diem to cover the living costs in its field sites, and an offshore salary of USD 800/month.
The training from November 15 to December 9 will train applicants for possible deployment to a current
project and also for the Nonviolent Peaceforce reserves. Please note that WE DEFINITELY EXPECT
TO CALL ON OUR RESERVES in the near future. We are actively exploring a role for NP in Uganda and/or Colombia, in addition to the current teams in Sri Lanka (not currently expanding) and the Philippines (which is
expanding.).
Applicants accepted for a current team placement in the Philippines will have all costs of the training, including flight costs, covered. If you are interested in this possibility, please describe your level of experience in the Philippines (preferably at least 4 months of in-country experience) and your application will be forwarded for a second level of consideration for that project.
For the reserves: we do not want cost to be a barrier, however our funds are limited, and we very much rely on individuals to cover as much of your costs as possible for this training program. If needed, these contributions can be refunded once you accept a deployment to the field.
Our cost for providing the training is $2200 ($US) per person. We are asking for a contribution of $600 (US) from everyone who can afford this. We are willing to consider an application for subsidy for half this amount,
and for some cases for the full amount. Before inquiring about subsidy, please consider whether there are individuals or organizations that you might approach for financial support. For example, a letter could be sent
to family and friends describing the training you wish to attend and asking if they would pledge some financial support to help you get there. Or you could approach a service club, or a faith organization known to you for
support. At this time, it is appropriate to collect pledges of support only, rather than accept funds, until you know whether you are accepted to this training. We will let you know by the 3rd week of October. At that
time you will need to book your flight. Again we ask for you to cover this cost if you possibly can.
In exchange you will be receiving a three week training in international peace team work, and a personalized assessment of your skills and your readiness for this work.
