DC: Associate Deputy Executive Director, Membership Mobilization Department

Amnesty International USA, a worldwide grassroots membership organization, seeks an Associate Deputy Executive Director (ADED) for its Membership Mobilization Department (MMD). The department is responsible for mobilizing grassroots activists to prevent or stop human rights violations and builds community and public awareness of Amnesty’s work through outreach, state-based organizing, coalition-building and human rights education.

In this senior role, the ADED will work closely with the department executive to build and support a nationwide grassroots constituency and is responsible for the day to day supervision of five national directors and their respective teams in the following programs: National Training Program, Membership Resources and Communications, Human Rights Education, National Student and Youth Program and Denounce Torture Initiative.

The position requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in non-profit administration, strong and proven leadership/ managerial skills with demonstrated experience managing at a mid-manager level. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; a working knowledge of strategic planning; experience developing and managing a sizable budget; experience working with activist members. Solid experience with writing funding proposals is helpful. Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management or related field. A passion for the organization’s mission is strongly preferred.
