Announcement for the position of Executive Director of the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center

The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC) was established in November 2004 by a group of human rights advocates, scholars and lawyers. It seeks to remedy a deficit in the systematic, objective, and analytical documentation of human rights violations committed in the Islamic Republic of Iran since the 1979 revolution. It is based on the premise that creating an authoritative and accessible record of human rights abuses in Iran since 1979 will help raise public awareness of the situation inside and outside Iran, and thus, will help foster a culture of human rights and the rule of law.
The Center is located in New Haven, Connecticut. The Board of Directors consists of: Owen Fiss (Chair), Yale Law School; Reza Afshari, Pace University; Ramin Ahmadi,Yale School of Medicine; Payam Akhavan, McGill University; Roya Boroumand, Abdorrahman Boroumand Foundation; Roya Hakakian, Writer; Ellen-Lust Okar, Yale University; Martha Minow, Harvard Law School; Bruce Shapiro, Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma; and Frederick Streets, Yale University Chaplain.
The Center is seeking an Executive Director who will be charged with the following responsibilities:
Manage the Center’s staff, budget, finances, and reporting requirements, as well as other administrative duties
Oversee the investigation, development, drafting and publishing of thematic human rights reports
Supervise the compilation of international information received; and oversee the development of the Center’s document database
Develop a human rights education and networking program, including the development and dissemination of human rights related materials to Iranians
Raise funds and apply for grants
Interact with relevant authorities, such as governments, inter-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, the media, and academic institutions.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary will range from $70,000 to $100,000 based on experience. Position offers excellent benefits.
