International Essay Competition on Population Politics, Migration and Human Rights

Conference and workshop participation in Berlin February 2007

The Irmgard Coninx Foundation is continuing its program on human rights with
an international conferences and adjunct workshops to address the social,
political, theoretical, and pragmatic issues of human rights today.

The topic of the new focus is:

Population Politics and Human Rights

As in the years before the “Berlin Roundtables on Transnationalism” will
start its new topic with an essay/working paper competition.

The 2007 conference and workshops will focus on

Population Politics and Human Rights:

45 essayists will be selected by an international jury and invited to join
the international conference and workshops in Berlin from February 15th –
20th 2007.

The Irmgard Coninx Foundation will cover costs of travel to and
accommodation in Berlin for invited participants.

Furthermore, for the best essay the Irmgard Coninx Foundation will award to
up to three workshop participants a three months research grant in Berlin
for the year 2007 at the Social Science Research Centre Berlin (WZB) and the
Humboldt University. The recipient will also be invited to join the workshop
in 2007/8. The Irmgard Coninx Foundation will provide for a monthly stipend of
1000 Euro plus accommodation.
