Free the Slaves seeks an Executive Assistant, a new position, to be based at its Washington, DC office. The Executive Assistant will report to the Executive Director, and will work closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Director on fundraising, administrative and outreach tasks.
Responsibilities:
Communicate on a regular basis with supporters via phone, email and occasional in-person meetings
Coordinate and produce mailings to supporters and various target audiences
Fulfill orders of Free the Slaves products (books, documentaries, etc.) and manage inventory
Liaise with development team to evaluate effectiveness of fundraising, outreach activities and product sales
Maintain supporter database, including performing queries, data entry and reconciliation with accounting software
Process requests for payment, bank deposits and merchant account withdrawals
Manage office supply stock and place orders
Manage phone system and answer phones when necessary
Assist in selecting and managing interns
Assist in tracking employee leave time and timesheets
Additional Qualifications:
Required:
Passion for ending modern slavery
Enthusiasm for communicating with Free the Slaves donors and activists
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
At least 2 years of work experience in an office setting
Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively with people who have a wide variety of life circumstances
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
Proficiency in Microsoft Word (mail merge) and Excel, and basic database systems
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural, international environment
Innovative spirit and willingness to use resourcefulness and creative thinking to help shape a growing organization
Commitment to remain in the position for at least 2 years
Preferred (but not required):
Proficiency in using a donor database (Raisers Edge, DonorPerfect, etc.)
Experience organizing events
Experience living and working in Global South countries
Knowledge of the slavery/human trafficking issue

Free the Slaves provides a generous compensation package, including competitive salaries, 15 days paid vacation, 15 days paid personal leave time and 100% employer-paid PPO insurance (health, dental and vision). Starting salary range for this position is $30,000 - $35,000 (not negotiable outside this range).
