Urgent Action Fund for Womenıs Human Rights (UAF) is an international human
rights foundation dedicated to the support of women activists working in
conflict or crisis situations. Through its programs of Rapid Response
Grantmaking and Research & Publications, UAF assists women who are striving
to promote and protect the rights and interests of women and girls by
ensuring womenıs security and participation in conflict prevention and
resolution, peace building, and post-conflict reconstruction. Based in
Boulder, Colorado, UAF is joined in this effort by its now independent
sister organization, Urgent Action Fund-Africa, located in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Position
The UAF Development Officer will join a creative, energetic and diverse team
of staff, board and volunteers committed to growing this dynamic young
organization. This individual will assume significant leadership for
building and maintaining the financial health and sustainability of UAF.
This positions works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors
and volunteers. The Development Officer reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
* Manage fundraising efforts with the goal of raising $8 million in the next
3 years. Support the development of annual and long-range fundraising
plans;
* Cultivate a network of donors through meetings, appeals, events and
individual communications;
* Prepare grant proposals, including budgets, in coordination with UAFıs
mission;
* Seek and develop opportunities to strategically enhance UAF's visibility.
Oversee and produce communications materials that further fundraising and
outreach goals;
* Represent the organization at various philanthropic meetings and other
events in the U.S. and abroad;
* Prepare and oversee the annual Development & Communications program budget
in conjunction with the Executive Director and Business Manager;
* Enhance board membersı and advisorsı fundraising capabilities and serve as
a liaison in their fundraising efforts in the U.S. and Europe; and
* Manage donor database.
Qualifications:
* Proven track record of 5 or more years of successfully meeting fundraising
goals exceeding $1 million per year in nonprofit organizations;
* Experience in managing major donor campaigns, including individual donors
and public and private foundations. Experience with European funding
agencies is a plus;
* Familiarity with womenıs human rights issues and/or social justice issues
is desired;
* Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;
* International experience and fluency in a second language is a plus;
* Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple projects on various
timelines, and also be comfortable working as part of a team;
Demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and discretion;
* Demonstrate respect and an appreciation for diverse communities;
* Be both detail oriented and skilled at seeing the big picture; and
* Be knowledgeable about and committed to the mission of Urgent Action Fund.
