Researcher on France and Spain – EU Team
Amnesty International needs a temporary researcher as part of the International Secretariat to research on human rights violations on France and Spain, and other countries of the European Union, specially on the fields of migration, refugees and asylum, discrimination and counter-terrorism measures, by providing country expertise, research skills and sound political judgement.
Working as part of the EU Team, you will monitor, investigate and analyze political, legal and social developments and human rights conditions, give authoritative advice on these areas, investigate and document cases and patterns of human rights abuses; and produce country-based and thematic reports.
You will need proven research experience, first hand working experience or research knowledge of France and Spain, and excellent understanding of human rights and sound political judgement.
In addition to your specialist country knowledge you will need an understanding of the cultures of the region, an understanding of the role played in the region by the European union, impartiality, ability to think strategically and experience in working as part of a team. You will have proven research and writing skills and experience of analysing complex political and social situations, interviewing for information and summarizing research information into a concise and useable form. You will need the ability to liaise effectively and sensitively with other organisations and represent AI to the government and media.
Fluent written and spoken English, French and Spanish are essential.
