Dublin: AI Advocacy Officer

Amnesty International Irish Section is seeking an
Advocacy Officer

As the world’s largest human rights organisation, Amnesty International plays a crucial role in the articulation of human rights aspirations, principles and standards. Key to its influence is sound, timely and impartial action on human rights issues across the world’s regions. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a friendly, busy and productive environment. And when you work with Amnesty International, you’ll be actively contributing to our fight against human injustice across the world.

Based in Dublin, the Advocacy Officer will assist the Research & Legal Manager with AI Ireland’s national advocacy programme. The programme’s aims are the promotion, monitoring and advocating for the Irish Government’s compliance with international human rights standards in its national policies, laws and practices. The work of the Advocacy Officer will be focussed along areas of national priority to the Irish section, including the criminal justice system, violence against women, refugees’ and migrants’ rights, non-discrimination and mental health and disability rights.

This position is offered on a fixed-term contract, to run until March 2009.
