On July 6-7th a Conference took place to mark the 10th anniversary of the World Court’s advisory opinion on the threat or use of nuclear weapons. Participants included academic lawyers, representatives from NATO, parliamentarians, mayors linked with Mayors for Peace, and peace activists. The intention was to identify relevant aspects of International
Humanitarian Law and Treaty Obligations clarified by the Opinion and to make
these available to activists in their litigation and in dialogue with politicians and
officials. The proceedings will result in a publication, one of themo f an academic
nature, the other as a guide for activists.
