This is a space for me to write about human rights. A place where I can share human rights news and actions that I find specially significant, where I can ramble about hot or not-so-hot topics, and where I can socialize things that I found interesting when I chanced upon them.
As for me, I'm Margarita Lacabe, director of Derechos Human Rights, coordinator of Project Disappeared and USA Watch and basically, a human rights activist. I'm also the mother of two, and you can find out about my non-human rights views and activities at my personal blog, Vox Publica.
The views expressed here are mine - or those of the invited guest authors - and should not be assumed to be the official position of Derechos HR or any organization anyone is associated with.

I just wanted to bring your attention to the current situation of religious minorities in Egypt. They are currently being persecuted on an unprecedented level. The government
has implemented a ID card system for health, education, all basic human rights. The government is forcing the citizens to choose one of 3 religions (Jewish, Christian,
Muslim) or they are not permitted to receive this ID card. The video below explains the situation.

I am neither a Baha'i, or live in Egypt - however I stumbled upon the video and found that it is something that should be brought to the public attention. Any support or public
awareness of this situation would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Hope
